backVertical Reality

Vertical Reality is a book of perspectives. Perspective is defined as the glass through which an object is viewed. The glass which frames our perspective on life is formulated from a multitude of different issues: culture, race, circumstances, parenting, education etc,. All of these and more, work together to formulate the glass through which we interpret. So prior to seeing anything in specific, we already see in general. It is what we see in general that determines how we will see in specific.

In I Corinthians 13:12, the Apostle Paul tells us, “Now we see through a glass darkly.” Though we are children of the light, many of our perspectives are still in need of coming into the light. Biblical ignorance, self-centered world views, hurts of the past, all contribute to the darkening of our perspective and the distorting of our reality. As we are translated out of the kingdom of darkness into the Kingdom of God, the Holy Spirit rightly relates us to God and washes that glass through which life is viewed. It is our intimate relationship to Father God that recreates a “Kingdom Perspective” and enables us to interpret life from a vertical reality.

This book is written as a daily aid to that transition. In Vertical Reality, Pastor Norm challenges us to view our lives from a reality that centers on Christ. Using the framework of a daily devotional, Pastor Norm encourages us to begin our perspective making process with the Kingdom of God, for where one starts their journey will determine where they arrive.
